The good person test
Most people say and think that they are a good person, not having done too much bad (never killing anyone, always paid their taxes and didn’t lie too much etc.). To those who hope that they are going to heaven because they are a good person and that their good deeds will outweigh their bad, I ask that you take the good person test, set out by God.
- Have you ever lied?
- Ever stolen?
- Lusted?
- Used God’s name as a curse word (blasphemy)?
The bad news
These are just four of His commandments, and on judgement day every person will be held accountable for their choices. God states that He can’t allow any sin into heaven. That means on judgement day, knowing that you’ve violated God’s perfect law, will be found guilty, and thus be denied entry into His kingdom.
- All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.-Romans 3:23
- The penalty for sin is death, both physical and spiritually-Romans 6:23
- This keeps your name out of the Book of Life, thus you will go to Hell-Revelation 20:15
The great news
We can’t save ourselves, BUT, God Himself came to the earth in human form (Jesus Christ) to pay the penalty for our sin, shedding His blood on the cross (Hebrews 9:22) making us acceptable to God the Father. No matter what sins you’ve committed, He says that you can be forgiven of them all-1 John 1:9.
- Romans 5:8 is clear, But God demonstrates His love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
- John 3:16 is one of the most known in the bible; For God so loved the world (people), that He gave His one and only Son (Jesus), that whoever (you) would believe on Him (put their trust and hope in), would not perish (Hell) but have eternal life (heaven).
You can’t be good enough to merit entry into heaven (Ephesians 2:8-9) and you can’t have committed too many sins to not be forgiven (1 John 1:9). Christ died for ALL sin, not most or some, but ALL. It’s not rocket science, choose life or not. Not making a choice is a choice.
No other name can save you except Jesus Christ-Acts 4:12-Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
Many ways to Hell, only one way to Heaven.
Heaven has walls to keep the lost out, but Hell has an open enrollment.
