Why Jesus?

When we see the signs that say “Jesus is the answer”, a lot of folks ask “what’s the question”.  Why does anyone need Jesus?  Let’s look at the question and the answer.

  1. Who is Jesus? According to the bible He’s Savior, Creator and God.  (see Is Christ God tab)
  2. The bible tells us that we need to be forgiven of our sins to enter into heaven. This means all of our sins, not most, must be paid for prior to leaving the earth.  No changing our destination after death.
  3. What about the statement “I’m a good person, so I’ll go to heaven”. Being a “good Person” doesn’t save you, because all have fallen short in this area.  Think of it this way, you commit a crime that carries a death sentence, but you are not caught until years after the fact.  You are brought in front of the judge in which the evidence is irrefutable.  The sentence is death.  You tell the judge that after committing the crime, you never did another bad thing, also that you did good acts for all the other years to make up for your crime.  The good deeds can’t erase the crime committed and a fair judge must hold you accountable.  He must sentence you, not for the good you did, but rather for the unpaid debt of the crime committed.
  4. Why do I need Jesus then? Jesus came to the earth and lived a sinless life, fulfilled all of the hundreds of prophecies about Him listed in the Old Testament (355 of these in the prophecies tab), went to the cross to be the blood sacrifice necessary to purify you from your sins, thus making you acceptable to God the Father.
  5. You can’t be good enough to be earn salvation and you can’t have committed enough sin to be unforgivable. Check out the How to be saved tab.
