Can we be saved by another Jesus?

Can someone be saved by another Jesus?

1st Commandment-I AM the Lord your God.

3rd Commandment-You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for I the Lord your God will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain (i.e. OMG, using Jesus’ name or the Father’ Name in anything other than in reverence-blaspheming).

John 17:9-12

  1. In verse 9, Jesus in His humanity prayed to God the Father for the believers. He specifically leaves out those who don’t belong to Him/the unsaved (John 10:22-30).
  2. We see that Christ states that the believers belong to God the Father. In John 10:27-29 we see how Christ calls the believers “His sheep”.  These verses show that His sheep hear His voice, or better said, they respond.  In Chapter 10: Jesus refers to believers belonging to God, He is stating the ownership of the believers is both His and the Fathers.  10(b) shows that the glory of Jesus/God radiates through those who belong to Him.
  3. The deity of Jesus is reaffirmed over and over again in scripture.
  4. Verse 11, Jesus is leaving the world in bodily form and acknowledges that we will be left here.

Jesus asks that God the Father to protect us, it is done “by the power of your Name”, then the very next thing Jesus says is “the Name You gave Me”- “so that they may be as one, as We are one”.  In verse 12, Jesus states that we as believers are protected by the Name that was given Him.

  1. Acts 4:12-Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

The question is what do we say when approached by anyone that doesn’t believe that Jesus is God?  The reason for this question is that “The Name” is different if referring to a god and not God.

  1. For exp. who do the JW’S and Mormons say that Jesus Christ is to them, God or god?
  2. Let’s start off with the Mormon religion. These verses state that Jesus is God in the LDS-KJV.
  3. John 8:58 is backed up by Exodus 3:13/ 10:30-33 / 14:6-10 / 20:28
  4. Hebrews 1:6-8
  5. Col 2:9
  6. Rev 1:8 / Rev 22:13 / Isa 44:6
  7. Isa 7:14 / Mat 1:23
  8. Isa 44:6 / Isa 48:12-13
  9. Isa 45:6-7 / 45:14(b)-15 / 45:18 / 45:21(b) / 45:23(b)
  10. Isa 46:9 / 47:4 / Isa 48:12-13
  1. On J.W.’s – The New World Testament (NWT) is like the LDS-KJV in that it denies the deity of Jesus. In John 1:1 they replace the Word was “God” to the word was “a” god.  The places in the NWT are;
  1. John 1:1-is a good place to start. The NWT says “a god”.  No such thing as “a” in the org Greek.  The JW will state that the term “Logos” is used for Jesus and not “Theos” as used to refer to the Father.  The problem is that when we look at the Greek, it states the Word (Logos) was God (Theos) John 1:1.
  2. John 14:6-9-If you’ve seen Me then you’ve seen the Father, for we are one.
  3. John 20:28- When Thomas saw Jesus he said “My Lord and my God”, not my god.
  4. John 10:33-in this verse the NWT says that the Jews were going to stone Him for blasphemy for claiming to be “a god”. Many claimed to be ‘a god” and weren’t killed.  Only ones claiming to be the God would be killed.
  5. In Rev 1:8, 22:13 Jesus said I AM the 1st and the last, the Almighty. The JW claims that this is the Father and not the Son. In Isa 44:6, 45:18 / 45:21(b) / 48:12-13 states that The God of Israel the Savior, the 1st and the last.  Big problem here.
  6. In Titus 2:13 – says “our great God and Savior Jesus Christ”  here in the org Greek Jesus is referred to as “Theos”, so the Logos being less than Theos argument is disproven.

A major problem that the JW org has is the translation.  Douglas Walsh published the first (of many versions to come) NWT in 1951.  In 1954, the Scottish government took the JW org with its translators to court for conscription (military service).  The chief translator (Walsh) and the other translators were asked to translate some verses of the KJV, into Greek and Hebrew (the languages the bible was written in).  Walsh and the other men made the statement that they were unable to do this because they couldn’t read or write from either language.  The transcript of the trial is free on the web or a copy can be purchased from the court in Edinburgh Scotland (Scottish Records Office, H.M. General Register House, Edinburgh).  So, if they couldn’t read or write from the original languages, then how could they have a better translation?  When I questioned the friendly JW’s a my door in the past several years on this problem, their response has changed to “we don’t know who translated the NWT, but we know it’s right”.  Thus, no way in their eyes to refute or prove the NWT translation, except for the facts.

Another issue is the JW org used the KJV until 1951, in which Jesus is shown to be God.  Just purchase one that is a pre-1951 KJV bible from eBay and see for yourself.

There are more references under the “Is Christ God” tab.

This is to show two things,

  1. God’s Name is Holy, to use His name wrongly is true blasphemy.
  2. To help others who know the true God (The Savior Jesus, not a jesus), to show Him to those who worship another jesus.

Update:  I recently spoke to a pair of JW’s in my home, when I brought up the issue of the Walsh translation.  The response has changed (again).  Now, the response is that the translator of the NWT is unknown.  If that were true, then why is there proof that the Scotish government took them to court.  The Watch Tower didn’t deny the translator then.  This should raise the question, if they keep changing their scripture, then how can someone trust it?  This is also the case with the LDS-KJV.  If you can find an old NWT or LDS-KJV, buy it and see the changes.

This is a salvation issue.  To use a name of a jesus and not The Jesus will cost your soul.
